APICS chimney sweep training has moved to new venues. Poujoulat, 1 Quadrum Park, Old Portsmouth Road, Guildford, Surrey GU3 1LU and Snaplok House, 3 Tiverton Way, Tiverton Business Park, Tiverton EX16 6TG, also now HEATS training centre, Ironside Way, Hingham, Norfolk NR9 4LF
We have the use of the stoves for sweeping and dismantling. All trainees get an opportunity to sweep a chimney, using a variety of different systems, and to reassemble the various stoves.
The course is supported by many practical items, pots, cowls, flue liners, brushes, rods, power sweeping equipment etc. and a host of other visual aids and anecdotes are used to reinforce the training.
We usually meet at the beginning of every other month with a maximum of eight attendees to ensure enough personal attention for all. Please have a look at our testimonials page (under ‘find a sweep’) to see the comments made by previous trainees. The food is considered excellent and tea/coffee is provided throughout the day.
The initial three days in the classroom/practical area are then followed up by two further days for work experience by one or two professional sweeps, showing the practical side of day to day sweeping.
APICS Introductory Course
The next APICS Introductory Course, with places available, will be held on Monday 5th – Wednesday 7th November 2018 at Tiverton (see above).
These are the fixed dates, two other days are negotiated between the work experience sweeps concerned. Contact the office for more details, including future dates: 0345 604 4327
“I just wanted to drop you a line to say how much I enjoyed my time on the course. I consider myself an experienced sweep with already having an engineering and building background, but still wanted to join the APICS organisation as it is always good to have the backing of of a body such as yours. I learnt so much on the course and it was interesting to see how you yourself started out and some of the methods you used. The people who were also on the course I am sure I will stay friends with for years to come.
Thank you for all your help and knowledge, it was a pleasure to be taught by you.”
